Rudolph/Libbe Inc. has been honored with a prestigious 2011 Build Ohio Award for its work on the Wolfe Center for the Arts at Bowling Green State University. The awards were announced Nov. 18 by the Associated General Contractors (AGC) of Ohio in Columbus.
The project won top honors in the category of New Construction $7 million-$20 million. Rudolph/Libbe served as general trades contractor for the 97,000-square-foot performing arts building, which includes a state-of-the-art main theater, actors’ theater, rehearsal rooms, scene and costume shops, 12 classrooms and performance spaces.
Rising from the ground at a dramatic 6-degree angle inspired by northwest Ohio’s glacial history, the relatively small metallic-siding and glass building is designed to accommodate Broadway-quality productions and provide students with the best possible education in the performing arts.
Rudolph/Libbe was awarded a contract by Alcoa to design and build a 35,000-square-foot, industrial process building at Alcoa's B&C Research facility in Barberton, OH. Rudolph/Libbe is performing concrete work and supplying the Varco-Pruden pre-engineered building for the fast-track project. The building will house an advanced recycling and casting process that will produce billet from re-melted scrap aluminum. Construction will begin in September and is scheduled to be completed in the second half of 2012. Alcoa is the world's leading producer of primary and fabricated aluminum, as well as the world's largest miner of bauxite and refiner of alumina.
Rudolph/Libbe has been selected as the general contractor for a 48,000 SF manufacturing facility addition and a 3,000 SF office expansion for Spiratex, a southeast Michigan plastics extrusion company. Rudolph/Libbe will construct and provide the custom-designed pre-engineered Varco-Pruden building for the expansion, which will double the size of the company's Monroe-area UHMWPE manufacturing facility originally built by Rudolph/Libbe in 1994. Spiratex specializes in urethane and Ultra High Molecular Weight Polyethylene (UHMWPE) extrusion.
The project will be completed in January of 2012.
